Tokenize: Best Conference in Web3
Jan 10, 2025This conference is a real gem, including high-caliber speakers and attendees in an intimate environment. It's packed with investment opportunities and lots of crypto Alpha.
I attended its former namesake, Coin Agenda, in Las Vegas in 2021, and exclaimed I would never miss the conference again because it's loaded with amazing value.
Notable speakers and crypto legends
I met Dan Morehead, founder of Pantera Capital who made one of his epic Bitcoin presentations. He bought 30,000 BTC in 2013 when it dipped to $65 per BTC. That's a 1,500X return at $100k+ prices. Morehead noted 2020 Bitcoin market cap matched L’Oreal and he was thinking we can do better than that. Bitcoin is the now the 7th largest asset in the middle of the “magnificent 7 stocks” and its headwinds have now become tailwinds. Check out his July 5, 2013 email explaining the buy:
Tim Draper's Bitcoin journey
If that wasn't enough, Tim Draper chimed in via Zoom. He's also in the elite category with Dan Morehead. Tim bought 40,000 BTC at $4 each way before 2013, but sent it to Mt Gox and never saw it again. That's $4B gone (at December 2024 prices).
The amazing thing is Tim bounced back with massive conviction by placing the winning bid for 30,000 BTC auctioned by the US Marshalls service in June 2014 (seized from the Silk FBI bust). He paid an above market premium about $700 per BTC while all the losing bidders were baffled why anyone would pay a premium, however small.
Special guests
We were surprised at the end of Day One with a fireside-chat-double-quest-appearance by NYC mayor Eric Adams and none other than Brock Pierce who is also a crypto legend.
Mayor Adams wants NYC to be the crypto hub of the world. The best thing is many cities are vying for those ultimate bragging rights, which is great for crypto.

Conference highlights
I gathered massive alpha with all the power networking and being a judge of the 19 startups at the pitch competition on Day Two. The conference blended into the night with the legendary dinner and the closing party at the Puerto Rico Bitcoin Center on consecutive nights. I had more fun mixing business and pleasure than a real vacation.
The Bitcoin supercycle
You've got to get down to Puerto Rico just to see the badass Bitcoin Center. Micheal Terpin, the "godfather of crypto" and founder of Tokenize and BitAngels, rounded out the Legendary Dinner on Day One by signing his new book, Bitcoin Supercycle; How the Crypto Calendar Can Make Your Rich. (Who doesn't love that title?)
As I like to say, "Information about crypto is more valuable than crypto itself."
This is a must-have for your crypto library. Michael lays out his four seasons metaphor showing readers how to get multiple X profits on bitcoin with only a handful of trades. I filled my knowledge bank with a bunch of other Bitcoin nuggets as well. The supercycle can be your friend, but you've got to buy the book and read so you can get your own nuggets as we head into the biggest supercycle yet in 2025.
Final thoughts
Day Two was full of BitAngels pitches from 19 startups. This is where you get great alpha and investment opportunities. The networking value is way over the top and everyone is super approachable.
Key Takeaway
The most valuable thing in business is relationships and Tokenize is the best place to mine relationships in crypto.
This was so good there is another Tokenize Puerto Rico coming in March 2025 and others throughout the year. I'll see you there.
